چکیده

This paper presents an overview of several gradienttype recursive algorithms for adaptive nonlinear filters equipped with bilinear system models. Bilinear models are attractive because they can approximate a large class of nonlinear systems with great parsimony in the use of coefficients. Two algorithms of complexity O(N3) (N is the memory span of the bilinear system model used in the adaptive filter) multiplications per sample and two other algorithms of complexity o (N2) multiplications per sample are presented in this paper. The results of several computer experiments show that at least one of the O(N2) complexity algorithms works almost as well as the more complex algorithms.

Performance Analysis of Series Expansions for Nonlinear SISO System Identification using RLS Algorithm

Abstract— This paper presents the modified bilinear volterra adaptive filter technique without considering the cross correlated input and output terms for nonlinear system identification. The result obtained by our proposed technique is compared with trigonometric, power and projected wavelet series expansions. In the present implementation the identification problem is performed on four series...

Output signal based combination of two NLMS adaptive filters – transient analysis

A combination of two complex normalized least mean square (NLMS) adaptive filters that adapt on the same input signal at the same time is investigated. One of the filters has a large and the other one has a small step size. The outputs of the filters are combined together through a mixing parameter λ . This combination is an interesting new way of achieving simultaneously a fast initial converg...

Extending the Radar Dynamic Range using Adaptive Pulse Compression

The matched filter in the radar receiver is only adapted to the transmitted signal version and its output will be wasted due to non-matching with the received signal from the environment. The sidelobes amplitude of the matched filter output in pulse compression radars are dependent on the transmitted coded waveforms that extended as much as the length of the code on both sides of the target loc...

Goal-oriented adaptivity using unconventional error representations for the 1D Helmholtz equation

In this work, the error of a given output functional is represented using bilinear forms that are different from those given by the adjoint problem. These representations can be employed to design novel h, p, and hp energy-norm and goal-oriented adaptive algorithms. Numerical results in 1D show that, for wave propagation problems, the advantages of this new representation are notorious when sel...

Balanced-realization based adaptive IIR filtering

Balanced realizations are attractive for adaptive filtering, due to their minimum parameter sensitivity and due to their usefulness in model-reduction problems. A balanced-realization based adaptive IIR filtering algorithm is presented. The proposed algorithm uses a stochastic-gradient based search technique to minimize the output error. The algorithm inherently guarantees that the adaptive fil...
